Is there a way - possibly a disconnected rs? - to update the contents of an
existing pulldown on a page without having to re-submit the page for the
user to see the pulldown populated with an additional value?
I realise there are javascript possibilities (and I am still searching for a
usable one) but I thought perhaps it may be possible to allow a user to add
a new entry to a drop down box that had been dynamically populated from an...

I need to support a VB6 application that will be receiving
disconnected ADODB.Recordset from out DotNet solution. Our dotnet
solution deals with System.Data.DataTable. I need to populate a
disconnected ADODB.Recordset from System.Data.DataTable data. Below
is the source code I am implementing to test the process. I do not
get any error, that I can see. The problem I have is that at the end,
the recordset seems to be empty. Any...

I keep having problems in which ADO disconnected recordset work under some
circumstances, but lose all their data at other times, having no rows or
fields, though the recordset object still exists.
One case where this happened to me today was in trying to store disconnected
recordsets in a cache collection in case they are needed again later in the
same session. When I retrieve the recordset from the collection, it's empty.
On the other...

I've got a routine that loads a tree control.
Works a-ok the first time around, then bombs the second. Works the
third, bombs on the fourth....i.e. it works every other time it is
invoked.
Error# always the same: -2214 741 7848, but the message varies between
"Method 'Add' of object INodes failed." and "The object invoked has
disconnected from it's clients." The first one is more common.

Running VS.NET 2003 Enterprise Arch on WinXP Pro SP1 with a P4-2.4Ghz, 760MB+ RAM, and 10+GB free disk space. Laptop is part of a domain.
When working on a web project connected at the office, VS.NET enters into debug mode (compiling, firing off a browser, and starting the debugger) just fine. However, when the machine is disconnected, or I'm working off a wireless network @ home (WiFi) or working off a wired connection @ home (all...

I use the shape object to make recordsets that have no db
connection for use in grids and such. For example
(mPhoneNumbersRS as ADODB.Recordset)
****************************************
mPhoneNumbersRS.let_ActiveConnection
("Provider=MSDataShape;Data Provider=none;Data
Source=localhost;")
sTmp = "SHAPE APPEND NEW adChar(20) as Type, NEW advarChar

Hi - I have a recordset generated from a search between two dates - if
the user wishes to 'update' some of the records to show their interest
in some of the dates, is there a way I can just update the recordset,
and write it back to the database (used to use rs.Edit, rs.Update etc in
old ASP) - or do I still need to run an update query for the records I
want to update?
Thanks for any pointers,

When I get a list of drives using the Directory.GetLogicalDrives(), it gives
me all drives including disconnected network drives. When I attempt to use
Directory.GetDirectories() on a disconnected drive, the GetDirectories Method
stops responding. I also tried to use properties such as
DirectoryInfo.Attributes but I have the same problem. How do I detect if one
of the logical drives in my list is a disconnected network drive? I want to...

Recently in an interview (for the post of ASP programmer), I was asked
"How do you define disconnected recordset in ASP". I was stumped &
couldn't answer. What's the answer to the question? Is it GetRows()?
Thanks,

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
