Hi,
I have an VB.NET application that uses an OCX for some control. I integrated
the application with the .NET Application Updater Component
(http://windowsforms.net/articles/appupdater.aspx) to copy automaticly new
versions of the application to the clients.
The problem is: it copies the OCX, but the OCX isn't registered. Everything
works fine until the the directory of the old version is deleted: The
application doesn't find anymore...

Hello Everyone,
I have an application that uses the application updater block V2. The
application is launched using an appStart assembly first. Everything has
been working great for a few weeks now, until last night when I added
reports to the manifest. I cannot for the life of me determine what is
going on.
I am using the Bits Downloader Provider to update my files. I have created
text files and given them the name of the report...

Does anyone ACTUALLY have the application updater block working?
I've been beating my head against the wall on this one for about 3
days. It looks cool. It seems promising. I've even read this guy's
blog entry about how to implement it
(http://weblogs.asp.net/duncanma/articles/10221.aspx) and how breath
takingly simple it is to actually get it done.
Damned if I can get it to work.

I am trying to find a good tutorial on how to use this verison of the
updater block so I can incorporate it into my projects. I have tried to use
the documentation with some success, however most examples are in C# and
make some big assumptions. Here is what I am after:
1. How to use Updater in my programs (references, code, etc...)
2. How to set up a manifest.
3. How to set up Updater for each project
4. Code samples for VB.
5. ...

Hi,
Sorry for crossing over but I would like to know if someone here knows the
right newsgroup that tackles the MS Updater Application Block? I have tried
the GotDotNet Workspace Newsgroup but there seems no replies. Can someone
please help me?
Thanks and I appreciate any help.

I am looking for a way to distrubute my client application. Once I
distrubute my application, I will want it to automatically update itself.
I will put the new files on the webserver. I have seen examples of this on
the web. But none of them are good. Does anyone know any resource where I
an get the source code that is pretty much fully working?
Thanks,
Mark

I put all my application updater block dll to GAC, to avoid keeping this

Can somebody either post or put up a link that uses the Updater Application
Block? I apparently am doing something wrong and can't figure it out.
I call updater.BeginDownload with my manifests, it downloads the manifests,
I activate the manifests and the programs don't get updated.
The stuff that is done on the MS pages about the application block are of no
help because they list all the events for an asynch download but not what to
do...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
