I recently had to perform a reinstalltion of Windows XP (my registry seems to have become corrupt). After this completed I had to reinstall all applications since most use the registry for settings, etc. After installing VS.NET 2003 everything seemed to work okay with one exception, none of the project properties appear. If I right click a project and select properties, the properties dialog appears and the property category tree is dispayed but...

Hi, I have designed a textbox that inherits from the System.Windows.Forms.Textbox control. when the control is readonly the back color changes to a light blue to indicate that it is frozen. This all works well, but i would like the color to be configurable via the app.config file.

I cannot get my UserControl's browsable properties to show up in the designer properties panel. I have then public virtual bool TestProp { {get return testProp; } set { testProp = value; } } but it doesn't show up in the designer. By the way, this used to work in the 2002 version, now in 2003 I am getting all kinds of problems like this

Greetings! I just developed a little control I've wanted for ages. It links a textbox and a label into a single control. At first, I gave it a property named LabelText and another named BoxText. Both of them happily appeared in the Properties window when I dropped my control onto another control. But then I remembered that Microsoft wants to standardize on using the property name "Text" for things that look like text. I decided that...

OK, so i searched this forum, and it seems like my question has come close to being answered a dozen times, but never fully... I have a very simple control that inherits from UserControl. It has no child controls, just properties and custom drawing. I would like one of these properties to be 'Text'. So i setup a private _Text field (base.Text not accessible) and public String Text property. I have tried using both 'override' and 'new'...

I made a Usercontrol that must have AutoScroll set to true when it is used. So I set it to True in the Load event. However the property still shows in the properties window when the control is placed on a form. That's confusing. How can I make that property not show in the properties window?

I've run across something that I would like to confirm. Does the VS 2005 Properties window have a couple of bugs displaying events that use generics or nullables? I ran some tests, and I found that the Properties window won't display: 1. Events that use the System.EventHandler<TEventArgs> delegate, if the event args are generic (such as MyEventArgs<T>). The first event below will appear in the Properties window; the second will not: ...

I have declared an event that uses generic event args and a generic event handler: // Delegate public delegate void ItemChangingEventHandler<T>(object sender, ItemChangingEventArgs<T> e); // Event public event ItemChangingEventHandler<DateTime?> ValueChanging;

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
