simple question about how asp forms relate to asp.net data grids etc.

Hi there

I'm trying to do something that in ASP I could do easily. I want a
form which will...

1. Bind a record from a database to the text boxes etc. if the user
has come from a summary page - i.e. this will be the details in a
master-details page. An update button will show at the bottom of the
form.

2. Show empty text boxes if the user has not come from the summary
page. An 'Add Record' button will show at the bottom of the form.

How should I do this? I can easily create a form which allows users
to Add a record, but I'm a bit confused as to how to bind data to the
form controls if they've come from the summary page - do I need to put
the whole form inside a repeater?

I know this is a simple question, but basic pointers much appreciated.
thanks
steve

I have a project with a main form and a second form with a grid on it. Neither form is an MDI, thus neither form is a child - they are two independent forms. The CALCULATE button on the main form opens the second form and fills the grid with data. What I want to be able to do is when I hit CALCULATE for the 2nd - 10th times, new forms identical to the first grid form open each time I hit CALCULATE and each new form gets filled with its own...

I have a grid control (inherits from Placeholder) that has a few buttons on it. On this grid there is a filter form, which allows the user to filter/search the table for specific information. My problem is, that the order in which the event gets called. What is basically happening is that the control is instantiated, I call my initialize method, then I wait for the user to call GenerateGrid, in case they wanted to make any last minute...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
