Deployment of a windows form application

Hello all,
A customer of ours has a .net window forms application running. This
application is running locally on 2 pc's. It makes use of private
assemblies, to find the associated .DLL's. This customer wants to have the
application installed centrally on a clusterserver. Via a shortcut to the
desktop of the client computer the application should be started. However if
I do this (both clusterserver and client pc have the .net framework
installed), the application crashes with a FileNotFound exception: tha
associated assemblies are not found.
I have read a couple of things about deploying assemblies via the GAC, or
deployment of assemblies with a configured codebase. But I am still in the
dark what would be the best scenario in this situation?

TIA

jan

Thanks, John. Here is the article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;;821546 I tried the suggestions from this article but still the same problem. No-touch deployment works on Win2K SP3 but keep getting page not found if the web server has Win2K Pro SP4. Sean K.

This application needs to be installable on a different number of users / clients, and the application has an Access DB out on their network. How can I create a deployment routine where I can have a dialog box prompt for the network share (i.e. \\server\dbfolder) at install-time? Once network the share is specified...

Installing Merge Modules from C# Windows Form Application (not using a setup and deployment project) Hi, Currently, we have an InstallShield project that creates a setup.exe that only installs 20 or so merge modules. It does nothing else. We then have our own custom, C# Windows Form application that installs our software applications. It does this by copying files, creating registry keys, etc.

Hi, I am having a strange problem right now and I don't even know how to go about it. Someone please help me! Any inputs will be highly appreciated. We have an application that has a VB.Net windows form front-end and a middle tier that's also in VB.Net. The two talk to each other via .Net Remoting. If we just run the windows form exe directly, then the application works just

We are moving from a Windows 2000 Server to a Windows 2003 server. Our ASP.NET web applications work fine on IIS 6.0 on the Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 server. All of our no touch deployment .NET Windows applications work fine on Windows 2000 server but when we move them to Windows 2003 Server / IIS 6.0 the following happens: 1) User access the EXE via URL... Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
