There is a discussion going on regarding how long the presentations
should be for PyCon 2006. In the past the sessions have been 20 minutes
of talk, 5 minutes of questions and 5 minutes to change rooms, grouped
into 90-minute timeslots, with a 30-minute break btw each 90-minutes.
There were comments last year that that 20-minutes was too short to
cover much material, so there is a push to extend that to 50-minutes of
talk, 5 minutes Q/A...

Hello all,
This is going to be a rather lengthy "question".
I have an Access 2k database, separated front end/back end. Front end
copies are on about 30 workstations and used frequently during the
work day. The backend has a table called CLIENTS with approximately
6000 client records. Changes to data in the table are made via a
frontend db Form which has CLIENTS as its record source.

K here's what happened. For my English project at DeVry, I had to design a
website for a company of my choice. So since my dad has been after me for
years to do one for him, I decided to finally do it. So I decided to do
most of the pages in HTML, which i'll be doing soon. And since he's a
Flooring Contractor, I decided to do an Estimate Sheet page in ASP. I've
done C# courses and never had any problems with the programming aspect, but...

Hi all,
I have this little simple script:
for i in range(10):
for j in range(5000000): pass # Timing-delay loop
print i
When you run it, it behaves as you would expect -- it prints 0 <pause>
on the next line prints 1 <pause> on the next line prints 2 <pause>

Hello, I'm currently learning string manipulation. I'm curious about
what is the favored way for string manipulation in C, expecially when
strings contain non-ASCII characters. For example, if substrings need
be replaced, or one character needs be changed, what shall I do? Is it
better to convert strings to UCS-32 before manipulation?
But on Windows, wchar_t is 16 bits which isn't enough for characters
which can't be simply encoded...

Hello all,
I have a question and am seeking for some advice.
I am currently working to implement an algorithmic library. Because
the performance is the most important factor in later applications, I
decide to write it in C instead of C++. However, I thought it might be
convenient to use some C++ code at some misc places. I'm aware that, I
could always use the C++ compiler to get it work.

I am having trouble figuring out how to declare a pointer to an array
of structures and initializing the pointer with a value. I've looked
at older posts in this group, and tried a solution that looked
sensible, but it didn't work right. Here is a simple example of what
I'm trying to accomplish:
// I have a hardware peripheral that I'm trying to access
// that has two ports. Each port has 10 sequential
// registers. Create a...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
