I am using VS.NET 2003 and trying to deploy a service program(c++) to a Windows 2000 Server system. I have also written a small DLL (USSsetup.dll) that is used to start/stop the service using a custom action. This dll is apparently dependent on the MSVCP71.DLL and MSVCR71.DLL's as per the Detected Dependencies folder visible in the deployment project
All this good except I am UNABLE to Retarget the output of the msm merge...

Hi,
I wanted to upgrade my adc to fixpack 5 on Windows XP Professional
(Dutch edition). However after unzipping the cab files the Windows
installer quits with a dialog saying (translated from Dutch):
Incorrect command line parameters.
The only thing I can do is to click OK and the installation quits.
The installation file installed correctly on some Windows 2000 machines

Dim swLog As StreamWriter = File.CreateText("C:\myLog.txt")
swLog.WriteLine("My Windows Service has just started.")
swLog.Close() : swLog.Flush()
End Sub

I need to be able to remove some dlls from the GAC in
order to return to using an older version of a component
but I do not seem to be able to delete anything from the
GAC in order to do so.
Whenever I try to delete a dll using a GAC removal utility
(with a parameter to force the uninstallation even if
there are dependancies) I get a message saying that the
assembly is required by one or more applications and that
there are pending...

When un-installing an application...
Is it normal practice to write a special program that erases all the
files and folders for all the users of an application that reads and
writes to SpecialFolder.ApplicationData (C:\Documents and
Settings\Username\Application Data) ?
Or, is there some way to get the ms installer to do this for you?
Is there some way to use Application.UserAppDataPath to ease finding

I'm trying to do the following xcopy from my Windows installer and it
doesn't work. I even tried running the installer as user with
credentials instead of LocalService. I'm running in 2003Server, so
its not a vista issue.
Any ideas why i cannot do this xcopy from my installer, yet it works
fine from console program?
Process kafInstallProcess = new Process();

Hello, I have tried to install python 2.5.1 and 2.5.2 with the same
error. The installer starts fine, but when it gets to the part that
says "Status: Copying new files" it terminates with an error code of
2356.
Does anyone have a clue to what to do?
Thanks in advance for your help

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
