framework compatibility

I have some .net dlls which are compiled against framework version 1.0,
should there be any problems running the same dlls under server2003 or
framework version 1.1 ?
I have heard some concerns from people regarding the .net version
compatibility issues, can someone point me to a good document which
discusses framework compatibility in details
many thanks

Do I need to keep version 1.1 if I have the new 2.0 installed? Setup doesn't look like it has uninstalled the old one, which suggests 2.0 is not a direct replacement. Am I correct?

I have it in my head that I saw a marketing document from Microsoft with the total number of classes and methods in the .NET Framework. Something like 70,000 methods? I don't need precise numbers, but a rough estimate of the number of classes and methods would be interesting to know.... Thanks in advance. Mark

Hi group, I will be getting VB.NET 2003 Standard which uses V1.1 of the .NET framework. When another version of .NET is released, can I use it with VB.NET 2003 with out upgrading VB.NET? For example, when .NET 2.0 is released, will I be able to just download the new framework and continue to use VB.NET 2003 with it?

Hi - I have a VB.NET Windows Forms application that I developed using MS Visual Studio .NET Professional 2003. I'd like the app to be able to run with either 1.1 or 1.0 of the .NET Framework. It runs fine with .NET Framework 1.1. When I try to run it on a machine with .NET Framework 1.0 installed (without .Net Framework 1.1), the following error is displayed:

I am developing in VS '03. I have all of the current framework versions installed on my PC, 1.1, 2.0, and 3.0. How can I make sure the code I am developing in is using the 3.0 framework version? Or do I need to be using the latest version of Visual Studio to do so? Thanks,

Can the 3.5 version of .NET Framework (currently Beta 2) be installed on pre-Vista machines? Or is it Vista-only? And, why doesn't .NET Framework come pre-installed with the operating system? I think one of the main reasons people will reject such software is having to install something first. I understand it might need upgrading, but why do Windows machines come without any .NET Framework (or am I wrong about this)? It seems that...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
