XMLReader, like all of the readers in .NET, simply reads
data. The data is not retained in memory like that of a
dataset. If you had an XMLsource document you could read
through it using XMLReader and load the elements into a
datagrid. If you don't need to refer to that data very
often it's supposed to be more efficient to use a reader
instead of a dataset.

Hope that shed some light.

Below is part of a code I have for a database. While the database table is created correctly (if it doesn't exist), and data is input correctly into the database when executed, I have a problem when reading out the data into the PHP variables / array. It should be displaying the information out in the following way, using the PHP array: n_date, n_headline, n_summarytext, n_fulltext

Hi, In the code below (not pretty I know but it's an early version :-P) I'm having problems reading the data object back in. If I move the reading code to immediately after the section where it is written ( commented out in code) then it reads in OK. However, when I move the code to the right place ( as shown here) it throws an IO exception. Both the Filter class and it's constituent class implement Serializable and it would seem the...

The code below is what I am using to asynchronously get data from a PocketPC device. The data comes in fine in blocks of 1024 bytes but even when I send no data from the PocketPC constant blocks of 1024 with all values set to Null arrive. Other than examine a block of 1024 to see if the entire block is null, is there any other way to determine if , say a chat message "Hi Charlie" has been received completely?

I've just discovered a bug in some code I wrote a little while ago, and I need you guys' help to fix it. My program imports data from a standard Excel Spreadsheet (just with specific column headers). I used ODBC in my VB.NET program to read that spreadsheet into a dataset, to make it easy to manipulate. The code I use to read it is as the bottom of this posting.

I have successfully bound an XmlDocument to a DataGridView but all fields seem to be strings. I want to retrofit appropriate datatypes on some of the fields. Let me take this in 2 parts. Part I: I found the ValueType field, leading me to believe that I could say dataGridView.Columns.ValueType = typeof(Double); dataGridView.Columns.ValueType = typeof(Integer); etc.

I'm trying to get data through my serial port from a CMUcam. This gizmo tracks a color and returns a packet of data. The packet has nine data points (well, really eight since the first point is just a packet header) separated by spaces as follows: M xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx Here is the code I am using (python v24): import serial

I want to thank everybody who tried to help me, and also to post my solution, even though I don’t think it is a very good one. Many of you correctly guessed that there was an “\r” included with the packet from the CUMcam, and you were correct. The actual format of the packet is: M xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx\r. Unfortunately, splitting the packet using \r wouldn’t help because the format of the data stream that I get with the...

Hello All: After trying to find an open source alternative to Matlab (or IDL), I am currently getting acquainted with Python and, in particular SciPy, NumPy, and Matplotlib. While I await the delivery of Travis Oliphant's NumPy manual, I have a quick question (hopefully) regarding how to read in Fortran written data. The data files are not binary, but ASCII text files with no formatting and mixed data types (strings, integers,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
