My "VIS" Website, which is a C# site created in VS.NET, Framework 1.1,
is no longer compiling for me via the command line.
As I have done 600 times in the last year and a half, I can compile to
VIS.DLL via Visual Studio, with no problems:
------ Rebuild All started: Project: VIS,
Configuration: Debug .NET ------

Hello,
My question is how to use C# to call the existing libraries containing
unmanaged C++ classes directly, but not use C# or managed C++ wrappers
unmanaged C++ classes?
Does anyone know how to do that?
Thanks.

I am converting an old application that was printing directly to a
specialized printer device (i.e. a special label printer). It was doing this
by opening a file with the file path of 'LPT1:' and then using PRINT # to
print directly to the printer device.
Obviously, this is not going to work under VB.NET - StreamWriter won't let
you open a device like LPT1: and such. I assume I am going to have to switch
to the System.Drawing.Printing...

is it preferred to access member variables directly in code, on the page
that declared them, versus going thru a property accessor? I would think
that since theres no security concerns or anything it would be more
efficient to access directly. I also don't think that you would need to do
any special validation since the class developer knows what the rules are.
Note, i am not referring to accessing member variables declared in a...

Hai,
I am new to VB.Net programming, directly doing socket programming. In C, I
will be able to map the message arrived in a socket directly to a structure.
Is this possible in VB.Net. Can anyone please help me with some sample
codings and guidance?
Can you also suggest some other news group available for socket programming
in VB.Net?

My ASP.Net 2.0 web site has a Data.xsd schema. I just added a table
adapter to the collection and configured it to use an existing SQL 2000
stored proc. When I tried to preview data from the table adapter, I
got "SQLOLEDB was unable to begin a distributed transaction" error.
The stored proc joins SQL 2000 tables via three linked servers. The
stored proc is declared on Win2003Host. Two of the linked servers
(Win2003A, Win2003B) running...

Hi all -
Not sure if this question has been asked before (I searched but
couldn't find anything) but is there a way to directly execute a
stored procedure directly on the mainframe?
In a DB2 command line tool - i.e., from Windows or from UNIX - I can
get into the db2 command line tool and do something like
db2 =CALL SYSPROC.ZLL2112K ('123456789',?,?)

Is it considered good practice to call a mutator when inside the same
class or modify the attribute directly?
So if there's a public method SetName() would it be better from
say ::Init() to call SetName("none") or just set name="none"?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
