Question about learning VB.NET using Microsoft Press Books

J
Anyone have an idea how i should go about learning
about .NET and XML using Visual Studio 2003. I need to
figure out what books i should start with so that I can
understand these technologies better.

Francesco Balena's Visual Basic .NET Core Reference is a must have if you
are learning VB.NET (MS PRess). John Connel's Coding Techniques for Visual
Basic .NET is another cool book that assumes you know how to program, but
not necessarily VB.NET. David Sceppa's ADO.NET Core Reference is a must
have for DataAccess...As is Bill Vaughn's ADO and ADO.NET book.

Learning XML is kind of a hard thing to give any quidance on b/c it's kind
of a vague topic. Each of the above books does a good deal of explaining
how XML fits into .NET and how to use it with DataAccess. If you need a
General Book on XML, there are tons of them but the XML Bible by Rusty
Harrold is pretty good.

I'm a beginner when it comes to Access. I'm decent with Excel, as decent as self taught can be and I've done a small amount of HTML programing. I have had some personal tutoring in Access, which combined with reading I have been self teaching myself, but I'm looking for lesson based tutorials. I've found numerous websites which offer these, but I have no idea which are truly good. I am learning Access because I hope to create some...

Hello, I have to build a program with the future in mind and I need a bit of guidance from a guru or two. My program will start as a multi-user Windows Application built with VB.Net and using an Access 2002 database backend. The future will require that 1. The database be switched with minimal effort to SQL Server and 2. A Web Application be added to allow web access to reports generated from the database. At this time, there is no...

I'm trying to learn how to use databases and database controls through C#. I have been using "Visual C#.net" from Microsoft Press. I'm guessing it was based on Framework 1.0. SQLConnection and SQLAdapter classes are involved when you drag a table onto a form. I'm using Visual Studio 2008 with Framework 3.5. Different components are involved in the process. I need a good book in learning databases in this aparently new environment. Thanks.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
