I usually embed a XML manifest with my applications to have them support XP
Visual Styles.
I know I can embed the resource into the resources section of the compiled
executable (under the type RT_MANIFEST and with ID=1).
What I want to know is if there's a way to include it in the project before
compilation, like you could do with the old .rc files, and have it compiled
automatically inside the EXE. Is it possibile? 3 6158
No :-(
However, if you are using VS2003 you can call
Application.Ena bleVisualStyles , on app initialisation, instead of including
a Manifest resource/file. It is also a common recomendation that you follow
this call with Application.DoE vents.

Sorry I couldn't give you the answer you wanted.
You only need to embed the manifest on the release version, so it only needs
to be done once per app.
If you want to see how the app looks with Visual Style during Design you can
apply a Manifest to devenv.exe in your "Common7\ID E" folder.

I have the need for a few XSLT files that I'd like to embed within my DLL. I don't want to be forced to have to deploy each of these XSLT files as well as my DLL... because if one file was missing, it could cause major problems.
How would I go about adding an XSLT file to an assembly and then, how to pull it out? Assuming it has something to do with the resource files.

Is there a way to automatically embed a manifest rather than doing this
every time:
1. Open your exe in VS (file -> open file)
2. Right click on it and select add resource
3. Click "Import..." from the dialog
4. Select your manifest file
5. In the "Resource Type" field, enter "RT_MANIFEST"
6. In the property grid, change the resource ID from "101" to "1".
7. Save the exe.

Hi,
I am interested in adding a manifest file to the resources for a MFC
application.
When I create an AppWizard MFC app with a manifest file it adds the
following lines to the .rc file:
#ifdef _UNICODE
IDR_MANIFEST RT_MANIFEST "res\\TestManifest4.manifest"

We are having a lot of trouble with problems relating to failures relating
to 'The located assembly's manifest definition with name 'xxx' does not
match the assembly reference" but none of us here really understand how this
could be an issue. The assemblies that the system is complaining about are
ones that we build here and we're not changing version numbers on anything.
The errors come and go with no apparent rhyme or reason.
We do not...

OK confessions out of the way - I went through the project properties and changed a bunch of stuff I shouldn't have. Then I built a release version without changing the directory, which defaulted to debug and dumped stuff there. Now neither one works.
In the debug version everything compiles OK, but at the end it sits there and says "Embedding manifest." And hangs. I go make coffee, play video games, come back and it's still...

Getting a C# program with a manifest file to run in the debugger

How do I declare a manifest file in the Visual Studio IDE for C# so that I can debug the resulting code?
I have been able to add the manifest file, to the exe after I have built the program. But then, when I try to debug my C# code, the program crashes at the point where a function call is made that is used by...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.

I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
