I've a question regarding db2 (V8.1) and database backups
going to a storage manager like TSM for example.
As I can see in the storage manager if I backup the complete
database over the TSM API (no tablespace backups) the backup
images is stored as a single backup object.
Later I will be able to restore the complete database from
this image and I will also be able to restore single tablespaces
from this backup image as long as I...

I am a little confused by DB2 Backup and Export.
I used "db2 backup db QAS to /dev/rmt0" backuping 650GB database to a
IBM LTO 3581 (1 drive) only 11 hours. But I used "db2 export to
/dev/rmt0 of ixf messages MKPF.msg select * from mkpf" on the same
3581, and this table is only 5GB, but the export used 4 hours. What's
the diffirent between Backup and Export? I mean except backup is used
to backup whole database or tablespace, and export...

Hi,
If we want to replace our current production server with DB2 UDB 8.1 on AIX 5.
3 and use redirected restore for the production databases to be “copied” into
our new db2 with server. Which backup is more appropriate for our databases
that have not too much but constant data change? Our current database is set
archieved log. We’re afraid that it could take us up to a few days to
complete the whole process including server setup DB2...

I have taken a backup of a production database and copied it to a test
server. I'm attempting to use the Control Center to create the
database from the backup. However, when I get to the screen to select
the backup to restore from, there are no backup files visible through
the Control Center even if I navigate to where I copied the backup
file. Is there a reason why my backup files don't show up through the
Control Center? Thanks. Is...

Hello.
Some time ago I asked in this conference, - How to use an ONLINE BACKUP to restore database onto another system? - but got no answers. Therefore I can conclude it is not possible.
But... what can I do with "online backup", really ? What is it needed for ? I do not see any possibility to use this backup. Please, share your knowledge, if you can.
Yes, I've read that since version 8.2 there is an option "INCLUDE LOSG" for "online...

any idea about db2 and know a bit in oracle. In oracle we can import
and export data that may be in the same database server or a

from the control center wizard and after that i deleted the database
instance and created a new one and now i want to restore the whole
backup data in the new instance or...

Hi,
I'm actually working on the migration of a DB2 unicode db (V8.2 FP 15) from
a Sunfire machine with SunOS (64 bit, Big-endian) to an AIX 5.3 (64-bit,
Big-endian) server located in US. The target server has DB2 V8.2 FP 15
installed and instance name and filesystem user groups rights an so on are
all identical.
From the manuals I see that a crossplatform backup-restore should be
supported between the two systems.
I did a full offline...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
