Hi All,
I am a newbie to MySQL and Python. At the first place, I would like to
know what are the general performance issues (if any) of using MySQL
with Python.
By performance, I wanted to know how will the speed be, what is the
memory overhead involved, etc during database specific operations
(retrieval, update, insert, etc) when MySQL is used with Python.

I built a system using mysql innodb to archive SMS messages but the
innodb databases are not keeping up with the number of SMS messages
coming in. I'm looking for performance of 200 msgs/sec where 1 msg is
1 database row.
I'm running on Red Linux:
2.4.20-8bigmem #1 SMP Thu Mar 13 17:32:29 EST 2003 i686 i686 i386
GNU/Linux
The machine has dual CPU and 2G of RAM.

I have a master slave configuration on linux machines running MySQL 4.0.21.
Once every hour, a process deletes about 9000 rows and re-inserts fresh data
on the master. The master process completes processing under a minute. The
updates arrive on the slave within seconds. However, the slave takes about
15-20 minutes to post the same updates. Both master and slave have InnoDB
tables. The master and the slave are almost identical in capacity...

I'm trying to convince another open-source project (phpOpenTracker) to
modify their current INSERT sql queries. Currently they just do an
INSERT into a table without first checking if their might be a record
with the same primary key.
The reason for this that they need fast inserts and most user I assume
are using MySQL which silently drops INSERT queries that violate primary
key constraints. But postgres on the other hand (and rightly...

I'd appreciate any help/suggestions you people working with MySql
cluster can offer.
I'm hoping MySql Cluster can help us with a high volume need.
Our needs are (at max load) 10M Million inserts per hour. Each record
is narrow (20 columns mostly numeric).
We then update those 10M records...running some simple math
calculations.
We then categorize them (another update pass)
We then insert them to Sybase db

Hi all,
I have 2 questions regarding performance:
1) I'm building a monitoring system that has to store lots of sensor
data that I 'll have to query from time to time. I have pressure and
temperature. Since we sample every 500 ms we will get lots of data
after some time. Will my performance increase by making 2 tables; one
with pressure and one with temperature? Thus when querying (eg
pressure) mysql will only need to look in the...

I have a process that does inserts that runs 50% slower that Oracle and
Mssql.
Queries normally take 50% slower than normal.
DB2, Oracle, Mssql all are configured on same os, same disk array (raid
1/0 - 15k disks) but DB2 I/O seems to be significantly slower.
Tablespaces are SMS with automatic prefetch set.
My thought was to create the log buffer array as large as possible so I
don't have to switch to disk much. I'm running circular...

Hi Group
Are there any DB2 UDB ESE DPF V8.2 users exploiting "buffered inserts"
(BIND parm INSERT BUF) *and* "multi-row INSERTS" (many rows associated
with the VALUES clause of the INSERT to minimize number of calls to the
RDMBS engine) in an SQL PL Stored Procedure?
I ask, as the latter would imply embedded DYNAMIC SQL due to
potentially varying number of rows to be inserted (assume it's
varying), and so, the SQL INSERT would have be...

Hi Experts,
I am doing a prototype of providing data access (read, write & search)
through Web Service. We observed that the data storing in SQL Server 2005,
the memory size is always within 250MB. Our aim is to support ~50K
concurrency users.
After investigation, we are thinking to use In-memory database for achieving

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
