Hi All
I am in a situation where I have to grant select privileges on tables
owned by a different owner to a specific role. I am logged in as
system/sysdba. I have created a new role FIN_READ_ONLY. I need to
grant SELECT privileges on all the existing and future tables owned by
FIN. I tried to grant SELECT on FIN.ACCT_REF to FIN_READ_ONLY. But was
not successful due to insufficient privileges since SYSTEM does not
own the table or dont...

I have recently set up mySQL on a Mandrake release of Linux (Version 7 of
Mandrake, I believe), using the binary 4.0.13 standard release.
The set up and start up all were normal, as far as I could tell, with no
warnings or error messages.
In nearly all respects, the database appears to be running as expected. I
have the book "PHP and mySQL Web Development" by Luke Welling and Laura
Thomson, and have been working through the examples...

mysql Ver 3.23.54
Having read, as best I could, the docs at http://www.mysql.com/documentation ...,
on host (Linux from scratch, kernel 2.4.20) "mysql.here.com" I enter:
mysql> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON db.* TO root@'max.here.com';
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)

Dear Sirs,
I have been developing an application on Windows with MySQL 3.23,
making use of temporary tables.
Now when I try to port the application to a Unix box running
also MySQL 3.23, I keep running into "access denied" errors with
the queries which employ temporary tables. This only happens
with CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE type queries, all other queries work
fine.

Hi folks:
I need to give a special user admin rights to the databases he
creates.
As there is no dedicated MySQL database server for his needs yet, we
created a special user on a multi-purpose MySQL server; this special
user has the rights to do everything only on databases he creates.
To distinguish his databases among others, we require his databases'

in different databases. Now I have to create serveral more users with
the same permission. Is there a command in MySQL that allows me to
create the new user by copying the privileges from a template user?

Hi all--
In an attempt to commit an Access MDB to a versioning system (subversion),
I'm trying to figure out how to convert a jet table's metadata to text, a
la SaveAsText. The end goal is to be able to build an MDB completely from
the svn repository text files.
Has anybody dealt with this?
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
I want to grant only the connect, select, insert, update privileges on
all the tables of a schema to a particular user/group
Initially, i had revoked all the privileges from public.
It seems that the privileges Select, Insert, Update can be given only
on a table level and not on the schema level.
I can iterate and get the script for the select privileges for all the
tables and execute it.

I'm trying to export a table to an ODBC database using a VBA subroutine. I
have tested the ODBC setup manually and it works fine but when I try to do
it with VBA, I get a "connection failed" error. This is the code I'm using.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with it?
DoCmd.TransferDatabase acExport, "ODBC Database",
"ODBC;DSN=*****;UID=*****;LANGUAGE=us_english;" & "DATABASE=*****",
acTable, "Test", "Test"
Thanks in advance.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
