MySQL on Intranet Question

I have installed MySQL 4.1.7 and PHP 4.3.9 on our server. I'm trying
to setup a form on our intranet website to submit orders from other
stores (on the intranet) to a MySQL database. I've got the form trying
to submit but get the following error message: "Warning:
mysql_connect() :Client does not support authentication protocol
requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client in
C:\infosite\add .php on line 7 Unable to connect to database" I've
read about a password authentication change in 4.1 and have tried
setting the variable "old-passwords" to "On", tried putting
"old_passwo rds" in the my.ini file. Neither made any difference. I can
log into MySQL and create databases and tables via the command line.
I've VERY new to MySQL and would appreciate any help that I can get.
Again, I'm very new at this so please be as explicit as possible with
your explinations.

Thanks,

Greg

Hey Greg,
Have you tried using OLD_PASSWORD function when setting up your user?

Hi, I just password-protected an intranet site by including a password authentication script in each page of a private section. The script checks the login against the mySQL database. Appropriate file permissions have been set up on the private directory. My concern is now about protecting the Mysql password. Let's assume I use Apache to protect the access to this password (<files></files> or SetEnv in httpd.conf).

Hi all, I've taken on a massive project for a client recently and now I've hit some bug fixes that are required (3rd party code). and was just wondering about peoples opinions / personal findings. This set of scripts for the section of the project use an ADODB class for MySQL. I've never used this method before (I wrote a class a while back to handle my MySQL core code which was mainly a wrapper for various mysql_*() functions etc)....

Hi, Our company was looking for contract programmer to develop an internet/intranet application. We were approached by a freelancer who have quite a lot experience and his resume was impressive. But he did mention that if we download php & mysql and use the application developed within our company, we should be fine and there will not be any legal issues. While some of the folks see this as a low cost solution, others are concerned...

Hi, I have a mysql setting problem that is driving me mad. Hopefully someone can give some advice: On the local network I have windows 2000/iis5 machine running our intranet site, with php and mysql working ok. Anonymous access is disabled, and root has been assigned a password and given full access to all tables from all hosts (i reliase this isn't secure but its only temporary for testing)

Hey all, I would like to preface my question by stating I am still learning ASP.net and while I am confident in the basics and foundation, the more advanced stuff is still a challenge. Ok. :)

I have created a MySQL database for my company which is accessed by PHP pages. I would like to permit some users to edit the records but allow others read-only access. However, I don't want to have to enter a password every time I want to edit a record. Is there a way to use our network login to do this? If not, what is the easiest way to accomplish this? The database is running on our server and is not accessible via the net. Any help...

Hi, I wrote a php+MySQL-based reservations system for a local restaurant. MySQL is running on AMD Athlon 3000+ 2GHz with 1.5Gb of RAM. The system is accessed through Intranet by 4-5 machines. The main reservations table weighs only 40k with around 150 entries, but I'm getting weird lags in the middle of the pages - half of the table loads ... LAG! ... then the other half loads. This is especially annoying considering the table will...

I have been trying to find a solution to this on the Internet for months. Literally, ages and ages and ages, praying that someone in the open-source community has enough knowledge to put together an LDAP connector for MySQL Community to connect to Active Directory. Alas, nothing. So I figured I'd try doing something similar. My business problem is/was as follows: I use Active Directory on Windows Server 2003 to manage my small corporate...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
