Hi all,
I want to get your opinions on how to increase available/free memory and
performance on a heavy volume database server.
I have MySQL 4.0.13 running on RH 7.2 replicated to another RH 7.2 using
same MySQL version.
Recently our master database server (2 AMD Cpu + 2Gb memory + 2Gb swap
space) started to suffer from memory outages because of heavy load.

Hello all, this might better be suited for the MySQL newsgroup, but I
figured I'ld post here and see if anyone can help me.
I'm trying to create a simple transaction handling system where users
pay eachother via points of a sort.
I have a table where each transaction is stored, in a single row.
It looks like this
transid,from_user,from_amount,to_user,to_amount

Hello,
I have a client (customer) who asked the question : "Why would I buy and
use UDB, when MySql is free?"
I had to say I was stunned. I have no experience with MySql, so I was
left sort of stammering and sputtering, and managed to pull out something
I heard a couple of years back - that there was no real transaction
safety in MySql. In flight transactions could be lost.

Hello There, I've recently been working on a large project, very database driven, in C# on windows systems, calling a MySQL database on a linux box.
The project is going very well. Except that simple calls that are sometimes instant, will also sometimes take 10 - 20 seconds. If I were to click a button that refreshes a table, 7 times out of 10 it will be instant, the other 3 times it will lag.
Some details...

I'm trying to convince my client that MySQL server is not the way to go for
his project. Here are some reasons why...
- If you use the MySQL Connector you are bound to GPL (unless you want to
pay $$$)
- Doesn't work as good "out of the box" with Visual Studio 2008
Any other reasons why SQL Server is better than MySQL? I was thinking about
using SQL Express, but my client says it's too limited. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
