I'm looking at setting up two mysql servers in replication with both
being masters. The most obvious snag in this scenario is
auto_increment, as disconnections between servers could allow user
interaction to generate duplicate keys.
In a moment of zen I thought, "What if one server dealt only in even
numbers, and the other only in odd...

After a failure, we promoted a slave to master. This included renaming the
server to the old master's name and ip address, but leaving the server id
alone.
The new master works fine.
We repaired the old server, gave it a different name and ip address but
leaving the server id the same.
I get the following error on the slave:

Hi--
I had been thinking of the issues of multimaster replication and how to
do highly available, loadballanced clustering with PostgreSQL. Here is
my outline, and I am looking for comments on the limitations of how this
would work.
Several PostgreSQL servers would share a virtual IP address, and would
coordinate among themselves which...

Hi all,
I am looking at a problem we encountered with replication. Our front-end and
back-end are Microsoft Access 2000. We have a design master at the server
and replicas at five notebooks. The notebooks are synchronized daily by the
users via a form that uses Microsoft Jet and Replication Objects (JRO) and
this works well.
I have a few...

I came up with a replication configuration that is basically the result
of
all the restrictions of replication as well as the restrictions of
allowable software on work PC's and I was curious if anyone would point
out
any flaws or possible problems with the design.
I'm limited to Access 2000 professional edition (Thus I cannot use...

I need advice about my decision to go with Replication in general.
This post was placed on the Microsoft Replication newsgroup, but
I really value the feedback that comes from this group as well.
I have a new client who want their Excel data moved to Access.
They have only 4-6 users of this data and a couple of them want
to work...

Hi
I have a front-end/back-end access app. I have created a replication set
between the backend on a server an the backend on a laptop. My question is;
How can I cause the synchronisation to happen via code? Basically I need to
give the user an option to press a button (or menu option) on the laptop
when the laptop is connected to the...

Hi. I'm new to postgresql in general, and have been tasked with coming
up with a replication solution for our postgresql based application.
Assuming we don't bite off trying to roll our own solution, it looks
like the open-source options for replication are:
1) contrib/rserv
2) erserver
3) slony
4) pgreplication

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
