Hi all,
OS. linux 2.4.22
MYsql : 4.0.18-standard
I created a database and populate 2 big InnoDB tables, the total size
is > 3G. After all testing, I droped the database .
But, the harddisk space is not release to the filesystem, Why, How
could I recover that ?
Thanks. 1 4159
Section 14.2.8 DROP DATABASE Syntax of the online user manual has user
comments that imply foreign key constraints may prevent some or all
tables from being removed. One suggests issuing this:
SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHE CKS = 0;
prior to the drop to avoid the problem.

The question is,
we have two options to store images, either in a Database (MySQL,
Postgres, ...) like blob data, or in the hard disk the file and the path in database.
Which option is better? When? Why?
Thanks you for your answers.

I have a linux server which is hosting several very large (~20GB)
databases. In order to save some disk space I dropped an index on one
of the larger (InnoDB) tables because it is no longer needed. It took
about 30 minutes for MySQL to drop the index, during which time I saw
the free disk space decrease. I didn't think anything of it while the
drop operation was running because I figured it was some kind of temp
file being used by the drop...

does a command like,
db2 drop table tabschema.tabname when run from the Aix prompt reclaim
the disk space? Are there any other options? How can we make sure the
disk space is reclaimed?
Thanks,

Good morning,
Database PRODUCTION was created on a system mamanged tablespace on
drive c:\
Now drive c:\ is running out of space and I need to move PRODUCTION to
the larger drive d:\ on the same machine.
PRODUCTION is currently accessed by 50 clients running many
applications and by some REXX scripts running on the same server
machine on a timely basis.
I do not want to modify in any way clients configuration, applications,

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to calculate the ctual disk space needed for a
table? The record length and number of records are known.
A rough estimate of the disk space would suffice.
Please help.
Thanks,
Sandip.

Hi All,
I noticed if file path has a white space, for example "C:\my document
\test.txt", the function File.Exists(filePath) always return false in
release mode. How could I make this function work for the file which
is located in a direcotry with a white space?
Thanks!

one of the projects im working in currently requires use of ultra
large sized maps, lists, vector, etc. (basically stl containers).
Sizes might grow up to 1000 Million entries. since it is impossible to
have all this data in memory, im planning to implement these
containers to hold data both in memory and disk at the same time.
im not sure this can be achieved using customer allocators and im
wondering if there are any such...

CASE 1:
The following sentences were copied from the book "Administration
Guide Performance".
"If more pages have been written to disk, recovery of the database is
faster after a system crash because the database manager can rebuild
more of the buffer pool from disk instead of having to replay
transactions from the database log files."
My question is:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
