For importing how can I test to see if the DB exists, if it does

I am trying to move a datbase from one machine to another. I have
tried two different methods and neither are working.
First I tried using :
>> mysqldump dbName > backup_file.sql
>> mysql dbName < backup_file.sql
as the manual outlines, but I have a number of foreign keys resulting
in errno=150 because the second command above is trying to restore

How do I restore a single database (selectively) from a mysql dump of
many databases.
ie: I have a server with a few databases on it, I have run:
mysqldump --all-databases > all_databases.sql
Which has created a nice file .....
Now what do I do if I just want to restore just one of the databases I
have just dumped into this file.
Thnks for any info.

I use the --all-databases switch to backup my entire database.
Sometimes there's a need to restore individual databases or tables form
the backup file. What command should I use for this?
Thanks,
Raffi

We regularly make drive images of our entire server and store it at a
backup site. To be honest I have never fully understood how the imaging
programs deal with open files. My question is will the drive image make
a good copy of MySQL DB or should I be running a mysqldump before doing
the drive image?

Hi,
I'm developing a database application that uses numeric databases. At
this point not using numeric databases is not an option. Doing a
mysqldump works. However when trying to restore the database with
"mysql -u root -psecret < backup.sql" gives the following error
message:
ERROR 1064 at line 11: You have an error in your SQL syntax near
'123456789' at line 1

Hi!
I succesfully exported my locally stored db using the following syntax:
mysqldump -u root --password=111 finance > sqlbk.dump
Now I created another empty db finance2 (on the same Mysql server) and
try to restore their my finance db:
mysqldump -u root --password=111 finance2 < sqlbk.dump

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
