Is there some way to restrict in mysql that certan field has only ONE ROW
with CERTAIN VALUE X while other rows can have any values but not this
one(so "unique" is not the answer..)?
This can be of course done in application level, but it would just be nice
to know. I would build my application so that only one user can be
superadmin, while others are normal admins or something else.
Of course this restriction would not be enough anyway, because I still need
to figure out what happens in different cases. So actual benefit would be
close to zero, but nerd idealist inside of me requires to know - "we have a
right to know". 2 1489

From what I have read in the docs, MySQL does not appear to have
support for user-defined constraints, as some RDBMS implementations do.
I recommend you go ahead and implement the constraint in your
application logic.

Content management system I'm working consists pages, categories, users (and
images). It is in the first place dircted to companies where 1-10 persons
are taking care of site content. I am thinking how should I set my
privilegde system:
1) use priviledge levels in a simple way: each normal admin is either
allowed just to make drafts for superadmins to accept or not. superadmins
can do anything.
* dbtable solution:

I ask all php-freaks say how they feel this CMS approach especially from the
point of view of 1) admin usability, 2) user rights management and) database
speed.
In my approach webcontent could be seen as a content-tree, where most of the
content would be in one table called "nodes". Content types would be:
- branchwebpages and simple categories(=menuitems that have only subitems,
not content) are the branches
- leafwebpages (those that...

I have an application with two user roles - regular or admin. If an admin
logs in, a button to the admin reporting section appears. This keeps
maintenance simple. However, I need to add more roles and restricted areas
to the app. For example, one account will have an admin and several regular
logins. The Admin can designate what each login will see within the
application. Now, there can be a Super Admin for that same account, which...

Hello All,
Does the Application_AuthenticateRequest event get fired for every request
made to the application? According to my understanding, YES it does get fired
for each and every request. Please correct me if I am wrong.
But does the event get fired multiple times for the same request? I do not
understand why in my application is it being called multiple times for the
same request. Every time it is retrieving the role information...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
