SHOW CHARACTER SET syntax

Hi

According to the official mysql manual:

http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Charset-SHOW-CHARSET.html

The syntax to show all available character sets is the SHOW CHARACTER
SET command. It takes an optional LIKE clause that indicates which
character set names to match.

I have tried various commbinations and continually get an error about
the syntax being incorrect.

mysql> SHOW CHARACTER SET LIKE '%';
ERROR 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual
that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to
use near 'CHARACTER SET LIKE '%'' at line 1

mysql> show character set;
ERROR 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual
that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to
use near 'character set' at line 1

I am running version: 4.0.15 of MySQL.

Does anyone have any ideas? Does this mean i have no character sets
installed other than the default? I see no /charsets directory on the
linux machine itself.

Many thanks.

Thiko!

Hi, 'C' says \ is the escape character to be used when characters are to be interpreted in an uncommon sense, e.g. \t usage in printf(), but for printing % through printf(), i have read that %% should be used. Wouldn't it have been better (from design perspective) if the same escape character had been used in this case too. Forgive me for posting without verfying things with any standard compiler, i don't have the means for now.

I am having a problem with the "escape" character \e. This code is in my Windows form KeyPress event. The compiler gives me "unrecognized escape sequence" even though this is documented in MSDN. Any idea if this is a bug? if (e.KeyChar == '\e') { this.Close(); }

"mkeles84" <mkeles84@hotmail.comwrites: comp.std.c deals with the C standard -- the document, how it's developed, and so forth. comp.lang.c deals with the C language, and that's where your question belongs. I've cross-posted there and set followups. NULL (all-caps) is a macro that expands to a null pointer constant. What you're asking about is the null character, '\0', sometimes refered to as NUL (one L).

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
