Is there an elegant way to check for the REFERENTIAL INTEGRITY VIOLATION in
Access via ASP. The reason I ask is that if the user attempts to refresh the
screen after implementing an INSERT he will be trying to insert an identical
record which thows up the following error (below). I could place On error
resume next before but I find this dangerous or am I overworrying. I could
preface the insert by doing a check for the record but this...

I have an application with MS Access 2000 as the front end and MySQL as the
back end. All was well until I upgraded the MySQL (Linux) server.
The Problem: I insert data into a cumulative table. Before when I did
this, and there were duplicate entries, the duplicate entries were rejected
and I got a return code with the number of affected rows (number added).
Now, I get a MyODBC error and the application stops when trying to add...

It appears to me that MySQL version 4 returns an error messge when doing an
Insert that results in duplicate entries. Version 3 did NOT return an
error - it dropped the duplicate entries and ran to completion. Version 4
seems to STOP when it encounters a duplicate entry, so that the records
before the duplicate are inserted and the records after the duplicate are
not inserted.
3.22.27.1 - previous ver MySQL that did not return error...

Hey,
I'm going to give some background on my situation in case anyone can
point out a way around my problem altogether... for the problem
itself, please skip to the bottom of the post. thanks.
I've been having some problems with database performance... Several
threads are constantly attempting INSERTs of new records into a large
table - that is hundreds of thousands of records -large by my account
:-) The table has a VARCHAR field...

Hi
Shortly, I keep invoices in a table.
Occasionally, someone will fire the execution of a stored procedure
(SP) that performs several UPDATEs against (potentially) all invoices
OLDER than a date that is supplied to the SP as a parameter.
The SP is usually a lengthy process (it takes at least 30 mins).
The problem is that SQL server 2000 Dev Edition doesn't allow me to
insert new invoices that are "younger", while the SP is executing....

What's best practise in this situation:
Upon submitting data input on a detailsview (bound to an objectdatasource),
I need to check for a duplicate email address (in an sql database) and
present the error message (if the email already exists) on the detailsview.
The data is strored in the sql table via a stored procedure which returns a
negative number without adding the record, in case of duplicate entries.
The question is:

Hi Ng,
I have a multiset for keeping elements sorted in a container but key
values may also be equal.
Is there any guaranteed traversal order within the duplicate keys of a
multimap?
When inserting duplicate keys to the multiset i need output order to be
in insert order.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
