Hi everyone. I hope someone can help me with this problem. I have
installed MySQL CE 5.0, but during the configuration wizard I get an error.
It has frozen up during the final step (MySQL Server Instance
Configuration). I'm installing it on Windows XP, and I used all the
default settings, except that I changed "Detailed Configuration" to
"Standard Configuration". At the "Start Service" item in the checklist,

I recently installed request-tracker on a LAMP server for fun (Ubuntu server 7.04). Everything worked great. Next I set up a virtual network with VMware such that request tracker and the MySQL database are now located different virtual machines (i.e. the request tracker virtual machine is now a MySQL client). This is so weird.
What I am trying to do is to upload files and stuff them in a mysql
database.
Everything works except the file content is zero.
using the load_file command from mysql command line as 'root' works and
i can download the inserted file ok.

I've used phpinfo() to confirm settings for mySQL on our host server,
and it's not returning accurate info.
phpinfo() returns a mySQL client API version of 3.23.54 (uselss for
me), where as a SELECT VERSION() query on the mySQL database returns
version 5.0.27 (exactly what we need). I think there's something wrong
with the mySQL library in PHP.
Is there any more thurough method of seeing php's settings for mySQL?
Obviously I don't...

I've converted a latin1 database I have to utf8. The process has been:
# mysqldump -u root -p --default-character-set=latin1 -c --insert-ignore
--skip-set-charset mydb mydb.sql
# iconv -f ISO-8859-1 -t UTF-8 mydb.sql mydb_utf8.sql

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
