mysql WHERE condition execution

Hello all,

I have 2 columns and I search rows with two conditions.

SELECT * FROM table WHERE A = '$a' AND B = '$b'

How can I make mysql search columns with A condition first and after
that within these condition B.

I would like to know, how mysql search works.
How can I tell mysql how to search?

Thanks,

hello, here comes a script which behaves differently with php 4.2.0 + mysql 3.23.49 and php 4.3.3 (or 4.2.3) + mysql 4.0.15. the oldest version gives the "good" result (with a tiny problem : no "Fatal error : Maximum execution time of 1 second exceeded in..." appears... ) : the execution time of the script does not exceed 1 second. the newest one does not care of the set_time_limit(1) function and the

Greetings, I'd like to figure out some syntax for retrieving the data from a table when I don't know all the of field names. What I do know are, the name of the table, the names of the primary key fields, and the names of the fields I want to use in the "where" clause of the SELECT statement. All of the examples I've seen in my books only show how to do this by hard-coding the names of each of the fields, i.e., $userid=$query_data;

I came across a very strange situation at work. There is an order of magnitude difference in execution time for the following two queries (10 v/s ~130 msec): select count(*) from table_name where column_name = 'value' or 1 = 0 select count(*) from table_name where column_name = 'value' I do not want to go into the reason why the redundent condition exists, the example is representative of the real query where it

Hi, I'm sure this isn't a hard one, can someone help? I'm adding a new record to a MySQL database every x seconds. I need to be able to inspect the content of a certain field in this incoming record and, when a condition is met, send an email. I suppose I could have some script inspect the latest record every x seconds and use sendmail, but I'm unfamiliar with scripting daemons on

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
