Is it advisable to use two different databases in two similar System?

Hello there,

I guess i didn't made the title of my question pretty clear, so here's the detail.

In our company, we have this system we called MRP (Material Requirements Planning) System, it was develop using the Visual FoxPro and Ms SQL Database, now my boss wanted me to convert it as a Web-base system using PHP and MySQL DB. We will still use the MRP System made from FoxPro for data inserting/editing, but the data will be save in Ms SQL because it is where System was connected. Now my boss expect that any changes of data in the Ms SQL database will also update the MySQL database.(Will that be possible? If so how?)

I was suggesting to use one database for both MRP System made in FoxPro and for the Web-base System which is the current database Ms SQL so we won't be having problem about data synchronization of two databases. With lots of discussion my boss still insisted to use to database.

Can anyone help me find solution to this problem? Any suggestions? I will appreciate any comment that you guys post.

Please post your comments or suggestions.

Thanks you...

It is possible with a script translating between the two.
Queries do vary across different databse engines.

These servers will be srv2a...

Hi guys, In the past I have used several time optional parameters in my function. But Now I am more inclined to think that they are more dangerous than useful, and probably better to be avoided. I'd like to hear your various opinions on this matter.
