Hi,
I am using MySQL for a table which will have 100M+ records, avg length
of records being 130 bytes.
When the number of records reach approx. 25M (and the file size close
to 4GB), the rate of inserts falls drastically from 800 per second to
30-40 per second.
Details:
* MySQL 3.23.58 on Fedora Core 3

I am having a problem with MySQL consuming a lot of memory and
eventually throwing an Out of Memory error and restarting itself. The
symptoms are that swap usage continues to rise until some breaking
point. The application is a typical web application w/ 2 web servers
running Apache/Tomcat connecting to a dedicated DB server running only
MySQL.
This seems to occur as a result of running many statements in a single
transaction, both...

Hi everybody,
I'm evaluating the possibility of using MySQL 5.0 as a database backend
for an application we are doing and I'd like to have hardware
requirements rough estimates and/or real world experience from people
that are already running similar dimensioned database/application.
As a rought estimate the database has around 80 tables 4-5 of these are
supposed to grow up to 5.000.000 records another 30% will be in the
100.000 range...

hi currently i'm using a crawler called larbin to get some pages, it
hashes each url to an integer. This is not a good method comparing to
md5, however it's enough for me. Currently i set the hash value to be
a 31-bit integer, which is used to be the index of a bit string in
memory, thus needs 256MB memory. i have 4GB+ free memory, so my
question is can i call for 4GB memory in my program in c++? or sixteen
256MB arrays. What about 8GB??

Howdy
Problem with the fread() call on MS Visual Studio 2005 running under Win 64.
The parameters to fread size and count are both size_t ie 64 bits. Even
so the call fails when the size arg is greater than 4GB (ie exceeds 32
bit unsigned value).
Any suggestions.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
