I am having problems with MySQL 4.0.12 on RedHat Advanced Server 2.1
using a dual Xeon with 8 GByte of RAM.
I have a database collecting logs. Each day, a new table is created. In
order to allow for queries across more than one day, I use...

I have a somewhat large table (abt 4 million records) and when I do an ALTER
TABLE to add a column the database hangs. I have plenty of free disk space
and memory. The server version is 4.0.17 and the table type is InnoDB. Has
anyone experienced this behavior?
Thanks!

I'm having a bit of a problem creating foreign keys on a MySQL database.
The tables create and everything seems to be fine. But I just wanted to
test out adding a row to one of the child tables without having anything in
the parent table and it lets me insert the row, which it shouldn't
obviously. How do i create it so that the constraints...

I'm wondering if there is a way to retrieve Foreign Key declaration
information on both MyISAM and InnoDB tables.
Of course, I understand that MyISAM doesn't support Foreign Keys,
however, it does still parse FK declarations within a CREATE TABLE
statement, and moreover, it even creates an index on the column that
is the Foreign Key.
So...

Hi there
I'm developing a large web application. Part of this web application will
be storing numerical chart data in a MySQL table - these numbers will be
already calculated, and are just being stored for reference.
In this particular table, the stored data will never be deleted or
changed. The only actions performed will be SELECTs and...

I don't recall exactly what options I selected in September when I
installed the beta v5.0.4 on my development machine, But, as I started
to develop and then backup data, I noticed that my tables are all using
the storage engine: InnoDB.
Can someone jog my memory and tell me what options cause that to be the
default ?
I'm on the fence, b/w...

I have created a database with about 17 tables. I have been creating foreign
keys some of which have worked but when creating others I get the message
below
*************************
1005 (ER_CANT_CREATE_TABLE)
Cannot create table. If the error message refers to errno 150, table
creation failed because a foreign key constraint was not...

Just started investigating InnoDB after having used MyISAM tables in
the 4.0.12 version, almost immediately ran into a locking issue with
INSERTs, DELETEs, and transactions.
Given the following table:
CREATE TABLE test1 (
f1 varchar(32) default NULL
)
and a steady stream of INSERTs from a command-line shell:

I have read quite a bit about this error but I have yet to find the solution to my problem.
I am trying to execute the following mysql statement:
alter table line_items
add constraint fk_line_item_products
foreign key (product_id) references products(id)
I have also tried the following statement with...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
