Error Linking to a MySql database from within MS Access mdb

2 New Member
I am having a VB 6.0 program where I am using an MS Access database. This database has some tables that have been created by linking to MySql database using the MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver.

When I try to create a table by linking to the MySql server it is showing the following error : -2147417851 Automation error. The server threw an exception.

The command I am using is acc.DoCmd.Trans ferDatabase where acc is my Access application.

Could you please tell me what is causing this error?

Hello. I am currently working through a book on Dreamweaver and using PHP. I am having a little trouble with setting up the database though. I have php 4.2.3 and MySQL 4.0.20a. I am running locally with Apache 1.3.27 on Windows XP Pro. I seem to have finally got MySQL running after a lot of difficulty. In the book it says to type source C:\mysql\newland_tours.sql at the mysql> prompt, to generate the newland_tours database in my...

Hello In order to perform a hetrogeneous join (I think that's what they're called) between MySQL and another database, I've created an Access database containing linked tables from each datasource. I create the linked tables without any problems, clicking on "save password" before selecting the desired tables. I can then access both tables fine from within the Access GUI.

Hello, I am trying to use a MS Access front end application to link to data tables stored in MySQL Server. I am running MySQL 5.0 Community Server, MySQL Connector/ODBC 3.51, and MS Access 2003. I have set up a test database and table in MySQL, but the problem comes when trying to link to this table through Access. From the Link Tables menu option, I choose ODBC Databases, but no "Select Data Source" dialogue window will pop up. All...

Hi all, I have an app developed in Access 2000/2003 (2000 compatible). I have a routine to refresh table links. Both files are MDB files (the front end and back end). The code I use is as follows: DoCmd.TransferDatabase acLink, "Microsoft Access", datafile, acForm, table, table datafile = "c:\mydir\mybackend.mdb" The file that contains the code is c:\mydir\myfrontent.mdb

I have the task to set up an application at work, using MS Access as a front end to a MySQL database. This will be done using an appropriate ODBC driver, and linking the MySQL database to Access. My question is whether it is possible to set something up so that when linking to the MySQL database, the user name which is used for the MySQL connection is taken as the user's Windows ID. If so, then I can set up users and access grants in MySQL...

Hi I have an MySQL database v5 on the web with data from my MS Access database which I migrated. I want give options to my customers to interact with the database so I want to move it entirely to MySQL but I still want to use my MS Access database on my laptop. So I'm thinking about linking the database by using ODBC Drivers 5.1 but I'm worried about data conversion issues. So my questions are: 1) Is linking MySQL tables a good...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
