Hello,
I'm using the logging package from python 2.3 on RH linux.
Everything in the test program below works fine if we just use the log
configuration with 'logging.basicConfig'. For the example below we get
the expected output:
ERROR:loggerName:error1 msg
ERROR:loggerName:error2 msg

My system:
MSW XP professional
Python 2.3.3
logging package: 0.4.9.2
My problem:
The log_test3.py script, provided with the logging package distribution,
generates an unexpected message:
No handlers could be found for logger "root"

Hello,
I'm running a test and having issues with logging, if I call
logging.shutdown() and then want to start the logging going again then I
get a problem as if I call shutdown, I can't get the root logger again,
such as :
..>>> import logging
..>>> objTestLogger = logging.getLogger()
..>>> objTestLogger.setLevel(logging.INFO)

I'm about to add some logging calls to a library I have. How can I
prevent that the script that uses the library prints
'No handlers could be found for logger "comtypes.client"' when the
script runs?
I would like to setup the logging so that there is no logging when
nothing is configured, and no warning messages are printed.

Let's say we log exceptions to the windows application event log using the
Exception Management Application Block. Is there a pattern that can be used
so the exception is logged only once and not everytime up through the call
chain? Is there anything a caller can key off of to check to see if it
should also log the exception?

Hi,
I'm using the logging module for the first time. I'm using it from
within Zope Extensions.
My problem is that, for every event logged, the logger is producing
multiple identical entries with the timestamp the same down to the
millisecond.
Is this something I'm doing wrong?

I have sent a message to the apache listserver, but thought I would ask
here, too, just in case anyone has seen this problem.
I am using log4net to do logging in my .Net 2.0 application. I am using the
most current version.
It's been working great (AFAIK), but today a couple of the QA people noticed
that at some point while running our...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
