Orphan Records (Joined tables)

Given this setup:

inventory.itemI D

item.itemID
item.descriptio n
I want a list of item descriptions which do NOT have an inventory
record. Any ideas? I did this before in MS Access as I recall by making
a query of things with inventory only then excluding those but I can't
even recall how to do that now. I'm working with php/mysql now and had
some luck generating aql with Access but not for this one.

I got it (pretty simple in access and works on mysql):

SELECT plants.plantID, description.lat in_name
FROM description LEFT JOIN plants ON description.id = plants.descript ion_id
WHERE (((plants.plant ID) Is Null));

I have a people table of about 25 fields. The table is initially created each year from 5 different sources. The records from each source are appended to the people table. Any person may be in one or multiple sources. For those in multiple sources, the data for a person may not be complete in any source. For example, a person is in three sources; source#2 has the SSN and source#3 has the membership#. For those people who are in multiple...

Hi guys, I'm having a problem getting newly added records to cascade through to other tables in the query I use for a form. If I add a record to the form then the additions are fine as long as the fields I enter are only from the main table. If I try to add records that use anything from the other tables then records appear to be added but not the main ID field (these tables are joined via a One-to-Many relationship in the DB).

I previously posted about data shifting between records in my Access 2000 MDB with a SQL Server 7 back end, using ODBC linked tables. Every once in a while, data from one record mysteriously appears in another record. This incident happened again, this time adding a new wrinkle to the situation. There are two tables -- TableA and TableB -- which have a one-to-one relationship with each other, joined on TableA's autonumber primary key...

Hello, I have a Database setup that has two tables that are linked. Table1 contains a list of people with their basic contact details (name & phone number etc.) and Table2 contains a list of all marketing calls made to the people on Table1. The tables are linked via an ID # field. What I would like to create is a query that shows all contacts on Table1 who we have not made a call to. The problem I'm experiencing is that as these...

Hi, I use Gallery2 v2.3 system on my web server. When I add and delete photos I see orphan records in my db. The project is opensource and developers are focused on new v3 of the product. However it will be at least a year until it will equal in features so I have to use v2.3 instead. I attach my 2 tables that develop this problem as SQL dump. The system has integrity check that reports this: Last Run Details: Checked 175 entities...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
