Below is what I'm currently using to construct datatime objects from
strings. Date and time objects are made up similar. To and from string
conversions are frequently needed in SQL neighborhood.
(1) Is there reason enough to ask for a 'datetime.fromstr(...)'
method? At least to convert ISO timestamps?
(2) You've got a better/different idea? Glad to see. Don't let me die
with this open question ... ;-)

Hello,
I'm having some problems right now with something that would seem to be
rather simple (and probably is). But, the solution is escaping me right
now.
Currently, I have created a data structure with a timestamp in it. This is
created in a DLL written in C++. The command that I use to get the
timestamp is:

I have a table with a few million rows of temperature data keyed
by timestamp. I want to group these rows by timestamp intervals
(e.g. every 32 seconds), compute aggregate functions on the columns,
and ultimately feed the result into a graph-drawing web thingy.
I'm trying a few different ways to get what seems to be the same data,
and seeing some odd behavior from the query planner.
The table looks like this:

So, I'm recording the timestamp from some unix files.
Any opinions as to whether it's best to use a "bigint"
(which matches the file system data) or a "timestamp"
(which might be easier to manipulate in the database)?
TIA!

Hi.
>>> import time, calendar, datetime
>>> n= 1133893540.874922
>>> datetime.datetime.fromtimestamp(n)
datetime.datetime(2005, 12, 6, 10, 25, 40, 874922)
>>> lt= _
>>> datetime.datetime.utcfromtimestamp(n)
datetime.datetime(2005, 12, 6, 18, 25, 40, 874922)
>>> gmt= _

Hi.
How can I convert a python datetime to a timestamp? It's easy to convert
a timestamp to datetime (datetime.datetime.fromtimestamp(), but the
other way around...?)

When getting data from a database using the dbapi and an SQL query, how do
you in general round trip the data? Especially date-time?
An SQL datetime column translates nicely into a Python datetime (surprise),
which then translates into a string like '2005-08-03 07:32:48'. No problem
with that -- all works quite nicely, until you try to put data back the
other way.

I'm using PHP with MySQL 4.x and was having trouble converting a
datetime from MySQL into a formatted string until I ran across this
solution that converts a YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS string into a Unix-style
timestamp and then formats it.
$timestamp = "2005-04-06 15:43:34";
$time = strtotime($timestamp);
print date('Y-m-d \a\t H:i', $time)."\n";
However, it seems kind of counter productive. After all, aren't people

Howdy,
I have not found a routine to extract usable
date/time information from the 60 bit uuid1 timestamp.
Is there not a standard solution?
Thanks,
Kent

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
