I was trying to copy a range of records from a table to the same table
with a small modification. I was wondering why this takes a long time
compared to just doing a subselect from that table and insert to a new
table (without constraints). Could it be a problem with the constraints
checking capability or the index maintenance? The subselect itself
takes a small time, so that will not be the problem...

I'm having a very strange problem in an AC97 MDB with ODBC Linked tables
to SQL Server 7. The table has an Identity field and a Timestamp field.
The problem is that when a new record is entered, either from a form or
from the table view of the table, when the record gets saved it
immediately displays #DELETED# in all of the fields. However, if I close

Hi,
I want to create an auto creation date and update date in my mysql
table. I am using the "MySQL Cookbook" approach, using the TIMESTAMP
field which basically is:
- create 2 new fields in the table (t_create and t_update)
- both NULL
- when a new record is created they both will register a common
timestamp
- when the record is modified the t_update will change, buit not the
t_create

how do I insert a new row in a table and get the auto-number field value
back from the database (sql)? I don't have any experience with Stored
Procedures.The next thing I want to do is using a TimeStamp field to check
for concurrency. What would be the best way to do this?

I just recently tried to use a multi-row insert on a table that contains a
timestamp column, but I get SQLCODE -180 even though I'm positive that the
value that I'm trying to insert is correct. The error message is : " THE DATE,
