Mysql upgrade from 3.23 to 4.1 and latin2 problem

Mat
Hi,

I have upgraded my MySQL from 3.23 to 4.1.8. First of all I dumped my
database with mysqldump. After installing new binary (debian woody) I
have created respective database and uploaded my dumped data.
Unfortunately what I can see on the webpage is onll ? instead of
respective national characters.

What should be the procedure to migrate my 3.23 data to 4.1?

I have dumped data. How do I create ne database on 4.1. CREATE
DATABASE name
or CREATE DATABASE name CHARACTER SET latin2 COLLATE
latin2_general_ ci?
How should I run mysqld, with default-character-set=latin2 or without?

Should I change anyhow my dumped data before uploading to 4.1(any
DEFAULT CHARACTER SET=latin2 after MyISAM)?

Anything? That I can see diacritics as they are instead of ? marks...

Thanks in advance for some clues.

Regards,

M.

Hi all, I have installed MySQL on my Linux Mandrake 10 workstation; I didn't change any default values (except for the user-accounts). I used a CMS to create a website which I want to upload to my hosting provider. When I export my database (using PHPMyAdmin) from my workstation to a local file and then on the server (again using PHPMyAdmin) I import the database from the local file, some characters are 'fucked up'.

I'm pretty much a newbie on mysql, and I need some help. I am running mysql Ver 12.22 Distrib 4.0.24, for portbld-freebsd5.4 (i386) on a server hosting an active website. The site's developer uses his own php shopping cart to receive customer orders. The configuration was done via cPanel with no external modifications - which produced no protests when built, ran and connected with no

Hi there, I'm currently trying to implement a website that will store and retrieve Polish, so I need to be able to handle Polish characters using classic ASP with MySql5. Does anybody have an experience of doing this as I'm banging my head against a brick wall getting this to work using either utf8 or latin2. I can't believe I'm the first person in the world to want to do this! I've input Polish characters directly into the database...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
