Hi Everyone,
I have a design related question (in C++) that I am hoping someone can help

Over the years as I design more database schemas the more I come up with
patterns in database design. The more patterns I recognize the more I
want to try to design some kind of generic design patterns that can be
used and shared amongst many sub-schemas.

Some time ago I developed a program in Access, and separated the database and the program
itself (using the normal access tools).We have the db on our server and the programin the
desktop system. I have modified the program a number of times, and now find that I need
to change the DB slightlt. This appears to require that I REMERGE the data base and
program, and I have no idea how to do that.

I'm using Access2000.
I have just designed a database which seems to be operating very slow on a
network. There are currently only a few records in it.
Should I be compacting it now before it gets busy with usage ?
The database has OLE bounded fields where pictures are linked to a network
folder where the pictures are kept. Will this linking of pictures to
respective records over time hinder the speed of the database ?

Sometimes I find myself stumbling over Python issues which have to do
with what I perceive as a lack of orthogonality.
For instance, I just wanted to use the index() method on a tuple which
does not work. It only works on lists and strings, for no obvious
reason. Why not on all sequence types?
Or, another example, the index() method has start and end parameters for
lists and strings. The count() method also has start and end parameters...

I have a split front end/back end system. However I create a number of
local tables to carry out certain operations. There is a tendency for
the front end to bloat so I have set 'compact on close'
I think that I have read in some threads (althoug I cannot find them
now) that others place such tables in a local, linked database. I
could do this but I am interested to know what would be the advantages.
And disadvantages, if any.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
