Platform: Windows ME
Python version: 2.3.2-1
Problem: Running GUI apps in Idle does not work.
When executing GUI (tkinter/pmw) apps from the edit windows or doing
an "import <file>" in the shell window GUI apps freeze and do not
respond to internal widgets or window decoration. They also do not
repaint. Only way to bail out is to restart the interpreter. Same
apps work fine from DOS window or double-clicked in file manager.
These...

I'm writing an article and I need your informed opinions, so I ask you this:
1. Doesn't the web-enabled app generally run slower for one reason or
another?
2. Isn't the fact that application graphics must be limited, just proof of
#1, especially with low bandwidth situations?
3. Aren't the web-enabled apps really less feature rich because the
developer has to emulate the controls of a thick/fat client app, and
sometimes you just can't...

I'm confused about what I can use C# and VS.NET for.
I have both Visual Studio 6.0 and Visual Studio .NET - which one do I use?
If I want to build a basic VB app, I assume I can use the VB 6 component in
Visual Studio 6.0. But If I want to build a C# application - does that mean
I have to use VS.NET? And if I do write an application in C# does that mean
it can only run on a Windows box with the .Net Framework? Do all C# apps
require...

I was creating test projects using c# and was surprised that there seems to
be only a form based windows applications available. Is it safe to assume
that classic window applications that utilize a parent window with child
windows can only be done in c++ and mfc and there's nothing else in .net
that is meant to be used like that?
It seems to be that c# should be used for either form based windows apps,
console apps, and web apps (also...

Ok, I know that .net inherently does not share session data across asp.net
projects, but is there any decent work around to this.
We already have a big chunk of our application using the asp.net session
object (using state service). I'd like to start breaking out
our functionality into component projects, but I'd like to get this session
issue worked out first.
Any ideas??
I found this article , but it sounds like kind of a pain.

We have multiple ASP.Net web apps in development. As a standard we
are looking to go with SQL Server to hold state information.
Can we have the multiple apps all point to a single State DB? Or do we
need to install multiple instances of the State database on to the SQL
Server (one for each Web app)?
It would seem that you could run into troubles pointing several web
apps at the same DB, because you would introduce the possibility (a...

Sorry for the newbie question, but if I install the .NET 2.0
redistributables on our ASP.NET server---
- will my old apps continue to work?
- will I be able to add 2.0 pages to my old apps?

With .net having been around for a while now, does anyone know what the
uptake of major software houses is in using .net for Windows Application
development? e.g. have the likes of Adobe, MS, Corel, etc actually released
any applications that use the framework?

Hi. We have an asp.net intranet application written in VB that uses
forms authentication for all it's pages. I have a C# asp.net
application that I just wrote. The company would like the C#
application to authenticate using the same mechanism as the intranet
app. Therefore...if I try to login to the c# app, it should redirect
me to the intranet login. Once I pass authentication, I should be able
to access the c# app.
Now. Here is...

Hi all,
I have .NET framework 1.1 and 2.0 installed in the same server. I had some
web pages developed in Visual Studio.NET 2003 and some inline code web pages
before (framework 1.1) . Now I start some web pages from Visual Studio.NET
2005 (framework 2.0). Can I set some virtual directories work for 1.1 and
some for 2.0 ? If so, please give me a hint. I don't want to convert the
old pages from 1.1 into 2.0.
Please advise. Thank...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
