Creating a script the will restrict specific type of character into a text box

Am requesting help with a simple java script code that will put restriction on a specific text box in a form on the format of character to be feed
format PCA/2013/----
THE FIRST PART (PCA/2013/) CONSTANT THE SECOND PART(-----) VARIABLE

why including the constant part at all? if it’s constant, just prepend it before you use the textbox’ value.
