Deletion of a file using JavaScript or Ajax

how do i delete a file using JS/Ajax. Specs is that no ActiveXObject is to be used.

You mean on a client's file system? That's not something you have access to because of security risks.

Technically speaking, it may be possible. However, you'd need specific solutions for each browser and to allow the script to run on each individual browser for obvious reasons.
