How to use JS to turn on projector and put up a picture

Don
Setting: chruch multimedia computer and projection system, with 2 display
monitors. The projector is connected to monitor #2.

Is there some way using JavaScript I can display a ".jpg" picture on display
#2? I know how to send the <form> tag to turn on/off the projector, but
don't know how to put up a picture. I don't want any browser artifacts to
show. Just the picture.

Thanks,
Don

HTML/Javascript is not your ideal medium for said situation. There are many
programs out there to build slide shows. Microsoft PowerPoint would be the
most known example. I suggest you really concider alternatives before trying
to create such a project using JS, which would be simply stupid*, partly not
possible**.

* Stupid, because JS and HTML are designed to work in a browser and you
don't want to show the browser.
** Leaving out the browser elements would be possible by setting the browser
to full screen mode, but that's something you just can't accomplish with JS,
that's something the user must control.

Theoretically this is entirely possible, but I'll have to agree with
Kimmo that it's not the best way to do it.

I assume you know for certain which browser will be used in this
setting, so that simplifies it quite a bit.

But if I were going to do it, what I would do is open a new window with
no frills, position it such that it appears on the second screen (i.e.
where the first monitor is 1024/768, you move it to 768 or so-- I don't
know how screen.width behaves in a multiple monitor situation, but it
might do), and expand it so that the title bar, status bar, and borders
are off the screen. How you display the jpeg then depends on other
needs.

Consider the following just pseudo-code:

function openDisplay() {
x = new window( 'about:blank', 'DisplayWindow', '' );
x.moveTo( screen.width, -20 );
x.resizeTo( x.screen.width + 20, x.screen.height + 35 );
return x;
}
