Open a pdf by entering reference [revisited]

McKirahan was kind enough to help me out with some code to open PDF's by
entering the reference number contained in the file name. Many thanks for
that (we've adapted it to work with other files that we store electronically
too!), it was much appreciated.

Situation has now "evolved" with the Purchase Orders. (groan). Now each PDF
is created with a date and time stamp to track amendments. So the filename
is:

PO_123456A_010205_1010.PDF (i.e. PO_ref_ddmmyy_hhmm.PDF).

Is there a way to search the files for every file matching the reference,
and either open all of them, or display a linked-list of them which can be
clicked on to open?

I.e. if there are 3 files with the reference 123456A, but each one was on a
different date (01, 02, 03 etc.), and you entered the reference in a search,
you would get a list back of the one's available?

Once again, any help appreciated, and a drink in the post. ;-)

Sure, but not using a client-side technology.

You can do what you want using PHP, JSP, Perl, ASP, CFM or any other
server-side technology.
