How do I make control "buttons" look transparent in Javascript?

24 New Member
I wrote a gallery div where you see a photo, and at the top right corner of the photo I have images of arrows to go back and forth to see other photos, along with other controls.

My question is: My "controls" images (which I drew by hand) have a black background. Is there a way to make the background transparent so that all I see on the photo is the control itself? If this is not doable in Javascript, is it doable in Photoshop, etc, or some other technology? I really don't want to use Flash for this.

you might play with the css-transparency settings described here ... otherwise you could use a image processing software to create transparent images ... i think gif and png does allow transparent channels ...

kind regards

@gits

Thanks. I feel stupid. I did a search and found the answer on Google on how to make a GIF background transparent with "The Gimp". Now my photo browser looks semi-professional.

I'm putting together a very simple web page with radio buttons that indicate the status of an item. The page won't be viewed except by 10 or so viewers inside a network. I want the viewers to be able to click a radio button and then for that button to stay "clicked" when the page is viewed again later - when the next viewer will click another button to indicate the new status. I'm not having any luck finding code to help me do this. I can...

http://risky-biz.com/new/risky.html I finally got DSL service recently, but I haven't forgotten the agony of waiting for the 64th image to load before I can see ANYTHING on a page. So I will keep to the antiquated notion of designing pages that load quickly. Toward that end I have always used text links. But I like the look of buttons as much as the next guy. I'm trying a "button bar" without images for the still-experimental version...

Access 2000 and 2003. I have made a custom toolbar to allow users to filter by form, etc. The only things I want to appear on that toolbar are the 3 buttons to control filtering. At the right end of the toolbar there is a little arrow pointing down, and if the user clicks it, it says "Add or Remove buttons." I tried the properties, etc., but can see no where to get rid of this

In ASPX 2.0 with MasterPages and all that, my entire page only has one actual <FORM>. But there are several different sections of the page that provide what are functionally separate forms with separate Submit buttons. In basic HTML, I can have multiple forms on a page and the browser knows that if any of the fields for Form A have the focus, then pressing ENTER will send a Click to the submit button for Form A. Same for Form B, etc. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
