How is it possible that the question "How do I detect which browser
the user has" is missing from this FAQ:
http://www.faqts.com/knowledge_base/index.phtml/fid/125
and is only here on this with a link to old information that suggests
use of "navigator":

So I'm half way through overseeing a large project in ASP.NET 2.0. My
superiors have decided that it would be nice if we ensured the site worked
on all the major platforms (as they see it: IE, FireFox, and Safari). We've
made heavy usage of the new MENU control and other intrinsic 2.0
controls.... nothing fancy! just using ASP.NET's built-in controls and very
nice, pervasive, and clean usage of CSS.
Now I find after more testing that the...

Hi,
I am trying to put together the last major pieces of my project's
puzzle. This is more website/client-side architecture than
JavaScript syntax but I hope this is a good place to ask. I'm a little
stumped with which direction to take and advice would be greatly
appreciated. I think this is a generally interesting problem but I
haven't seen a post this long here before :S
I have developed half of the admin interface for an e-commerce

This is just a quick poll for all you web devs out there: What
browsers do you test on/are concerned about compatibility with?
Obviously, you're going to test on current-generation browsers such as
IE6, IE7, Firefox 1.5/2, Opera 8/9, Safari 2, etc.
How old must a browser be before you stop worrying about it? Anybody
here still test on IE4?
Thanks,

Hi,
Can anybody comment on this?
In comp.lang.php I advised somebody to skip using:
<script language="javascript">
and use:
<script type="text/javascript">
And mr. Dunlop gave this response:

Hi,
Recently on the web I came across documentation discussing Data Source
Objects (DSO) in relation to browser and html functionality (in particular
the ability to declare a Java applet as a data source that can be used with
any or the HTML tags that take the src="" attribute). I find it interesting
and potentially *very* useful and would like to know more, so if anyone can
answer any of the following questions that would be great: -

Hallo,
I am developing a site, and here whats the problem is: how to
partition the code, i.e. if I developed 1000 lines of code, in that I
want to show first 200 lines only if the user opens my website using
IE, and next 200 lines in Firefox, and remaining lines in another
browsers.
Here am asking that how to compatible the total code depending upon
the browsers used by users.

Hello:
I would like to develop a browser extension, or whatever such a thing
is classified as, that would allow a user of IE6, and possibly IE7,
to
switch between a live and development page.
I'm sure the individuals reading this are familiar with what I'm
referring to; however, I'll provide an example.

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
