Hi,

A few points.

This is a javascript question....
Please validate your code before posting....
And i think marquees are depricated....

Remember those for next time but for now heres the solution i have come up with. You will need to finish off the code... but i think you get the idea...

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. <html>
  2. <head>
  3.
  4. <script type="text/javascript">
  5.
  6. function sstop(elid){
  7.  document.getElementById(elid).scrollAmount = 0;
  8.
  9. }
  10. </script>
  11. </head>
  12. <body>
  13.
  14. <marquee id="marqueeTag" onMouseOver="javascript:sstop('marqueeTag')">HI</marquee>
  15.
  16. </body>
  17. </html>
Oh and by the way i removed all the extra from the marquee tag just kept the bare minimum, but you can build this up again in the same way you did before

Yea, u r right !!! The marquee element is not part of the HTML specification and it may cause problems with some browsers. I recommend using JS intead.

He needs to bring himself more up to date because much of his markup is deprecated.

I love the Dynamic Drive cross browser marquee script. I'd like to make the text loop immediately after completion, so the beginning runs right after the end (does that make sense?). Could anyone tell me how to do this? Here's the link: http://www.calicosystems.com/pilla/index1.htm Here's the code: <script language="JavaScript1.2">

Although some browsers support the MARQUEE tag, it is not defined in the HTML 4.01 specification. This tag creates a scrolling line of text. It works with Mozilla 1.6 and supposedly with Internet Explorer. Is there a way to get a scrolling line of text within the HTML 4.01 or CSS specifications without resorting to Java or JavaScript? --

I'm quite new to HTML, and have seen <marquee> get bad press here. What's wrong with using it. I wanted to have the contents of a .txt file scrolling for news items, can I do this with marquee, or should I be looking at applets ?

Hi I am wondering if someone can help me here with the "perfect" marquee vertical scrolling script I've found. This marquee is great for me as it will call an external html page. This allow me to design a html page and update just that page without having to muck around on coding with the main page. There is one thing I like to have this marquee script able to do for me.

Hi I made this marquee program however, I am having trouble getting all four marquees to line up correctly. Basically I want the the 4 marquees to line up on the four sides exactly so they intersect. Three of them look good. With fourth the marquee does something funny this is illustrated if you change the border color of the "up" marquee in the program. Help and insights would be appreciated. Here is the program, it is computationally...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
