Hi,
I need to access the individual bytes in a string in my javascript
function.
If the characters in the string were all ascii characters then there
would not be a problem, however in my case the string may contain
ISO-2022-JP or UTF8 characters, so these characters may be larger than
1 byte each.
Is there a way to extract the individual bytes, or convert a string to
an array of bytes in javascript?

hello,
i'm using charCodeAt to get the ascii value at a given location in a
string but now i want to set the value of a location in a string to a
specific ascii value. is there a way to do this?
the only thing i can think of is to use the 'replace' method with a
regular expression that matches the nth location in the string and
replaces it with the new ascii value but that seems crude.

I understand that it is perfectly possible to store UTF-8 strings
in a std::string, however doing so can cause some implicaions.
E.g. you can't count the amount of characters by length() |
size(). Instead one has to iterate through the string, parse all
UTF-8 multibytes and count each multibyte as one character.
To address this problem the GTKmm bindings for the GTK+ toolkit
have implemented a own string class Glib::ustring...

I have not been able to find a simple, straight forward Unicode to ASCII
string conversion function in VB.Net.
Is that because such a function does not exists or do I overlook it?
I found Encoding.Convert, but that needs byte arrays.
Thanks,
/Ger

Does anyone have a reputable reference about internal string storage in
JavaScript? (for some particular implementation I mean).
Say having 1,048,576 characters long string from the geometric
progression:
function generateLargeString() {
var s = 'a';
for (var i=1; i<21; ++i) {
s = s.concat(s);

As you can see, there could have been a problem with the split-method. The following short article handles ways around this possible problem, that we couldn't reproduce, but someone may possibly encounter it too sometimes. If nothing else, the shown...

From python manual
str( )
Return a string containing a nicely printable representation of an
object. For strings, this returns the string itself. The difference
with repr(object) is that str(object) does not always attempt to
return a string that is acceptable to eval(); its goal is to return a
printable string. If no argument is given, returns the empty string,

Hi,
I need help with writing a regexp that identifies HTML encoded
strings.
The problem occurred because I have a field in the DB, that contains
regular ASCII chars, as well as HTMLencoded strings (e.g.:
זאת לא).
Is there a quick way to determine which strings are HTML encoded?
Thanks,
Gabi.

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
