Detecting if we're in an embedded IE object

4 New Member
Hello,

I've got a question related to an embedded IE object.
My webpage (simple HTML) is shown inside another application which uses an IE object (not a separate window, but embedded).
This web-page can also be launched in an IE browser.
Now I want to detect in my page if is running inside an IE embedded object, or if it is launched in an new IE window.

Any help is more then welcome... I can't seem to find it.

Regards,

Kristof

i'm not quite sure ... but did you try to have a look at the navigator-object? have a look here ... may be it could be used for your purpose?

I have looked into the navigator object and compared it with a debugger between the two situations...
No difference :-(

hmmm ...

in this case i don't know another way too ... a webpage may only know about its display-container ... which is a browser-window. in case both, the embedded and the standalone window identify as the same thing ... i couldn't think of how to detect the difference? ... do you have control to the embedded one? may be the emedded browser has any different property that a 'normal' browser has not and that we may identify?

kind regards

We're Mad As Hell And We're Not Going To Take It Anymore http://hownow.brownpau.com/index.html The web is a mess. We're tired of this deluge of <font> tags, nested tables, spacer GIFs, and broken HTML. We're tired of having to make separate pages for Netscape 4 users and adding "?printable=1" query strings to URLs just to come up with text only output. We're tired of unclosed tags and unquoted HTML tag attributes. We're tired of <p>...

I need to create a read-only copy of Object X at run time, I know how to find the type of Object X (using GetType) but how do I go about creating a readonly copy of X? What I want to do is this: System.Type ValueType = Value.GetType(); create readonly object of type ValuteType and copy Value into it. Cheers,

Simple q: is it possible to re-use the MS code-editor window in an app? As part of a code-review / promotion tool (not commercial) it would be handy to see the text with the standard colour coding. In particular for C#, but also SQL, VB, XML, etc (the usual suspects). Alternatively, does anybody know of any suitable (cheap / free) alternatives that can be embedded and coded with C# and .Net 2? It doesn't have to allow editing - just view. ...

Am I the only one who finds that I'm writing more documentation than code? I recently needed to write a function to generate a rank table from a list. That is, a list of ranks, where the rank of an item is the position it would be in if the list were sorted: alist = list('defabc') ranks = To do that, I needed to generate an index table first. In the book

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
