Hi,

From Javascript itself on the page?
As far as I know: No.

You could of course wrap every javascript-command and function in an
if-then block, checking if the command should run.

Why would you want such a thing in the first place?

Hello, I'm wanting to do something and I'm not sure if it's possible (I'd sure like it to be). I'm using a neat service called FeedSweep to aggregate a large list of XML/RSS/ATOM feeds. The FeedSweep works just fine, it takes my request, chugs and kicks out what it should. The problem is that because I'm throwing 40 some feeds at it, it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute+ to kick back the "content." What I want to do (to save...

My javascript program has reason to want to stop. For example, function A has 5 lines, the second of which calls function B, which has 5 lines, the first of which calls function C. But function C discovers that something is very wrong so it does an "alert" saying something like Sorry, couldn't make the necessary connection

Can anyone recommend a good online guide to using objects in javascript? The book I bought (DHTML Utopia) suggests using objects to keep the code clean and stop namespace clashes between different parts of the code, but as far as I can see, the way objects work in javascript is quite awkward. I had it working the way they suggest in the book, and it was going OK until I wanted to call one object method from another - I couldn't find a...

Hello everyone. I am not fluent in JavaScript, so I might overlook the obvious. But in all other programming languages that I know and that have associative arrays, or hashes, the elements in the hash are alphabetically sorted if the key happens to be alpha numeric. Which I believe makes sense because it allows for fast lookup of a key.

Hi, I am having a method that handles the click event of a button on the page. This method will also send an email. Sending email comes after several lines of code in the method. I was testing upper part of the method, so i kept a break point in the upper part. The code execution comes to a break in that point. I examined the values and clicked "stop debugging" i.e., well before calling send email. But strangely it continued to send the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
