Hello everyone,
I do not know much about javascript, so please excuse me if my question is
not clear.:
If I build a string in Javascript
string =
"http://test_server_a.s ome_domain.org" +download_trial _of_product.exe
Then use
document.locati on.href=string
It works in Firefox, the popup box says,. would you like to download this
file... and the download is what its supposed to be. However, it does not
work well in IE. All I get is a nasty pop-up box talking about downloading
an Object. What am I doing wrong?
Any help would be appreciated 1 3129

You are assuming that the way Firefox behaves for you, as well as IE, is
the same way it behaves for anybody. That is far from being true. My
Firefox does not do what yours does, nor does my IE do what your IE
does. How the browser deals with a file is directly, and explicitly,
related to the way the user has the browser configured.

Hello,
I've read quite a bit of discussion on different approaches of how to
create a download progress meter that can be implemented into a Web
site. I understand that by the very nature of the way the download
transport is handled that this cannot "automatically" be done...
upload progress meters exist, but not download. However, I've seen
different theories on how it could be done if one knows the file size.
Is anyone aware of a...

if i use javascript as a language (say, doing math computations) and
not using any of DOM/DHTML, it's quite a pain to always run thru
browser/html.
is there some IDE or emacs mode where i can run javascript much like a
pure scripting language where it prints to the screen?

Hello All,
I'm a newbie to this ng. I'm posting here because I have a question
about debugging some javascript on some pages of my website. Please
don't call me a "troll" -- because I'm not one. :-)))
The next page is called "basic_snake" and creates a message which
follows the cursor. Up until today, I used this type of message
attached to the mouse pointer for the following pages on my website:
index.html, delphi.html &...

I want to put up a photo album slideshow but I want to stay away from

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
