regex handle currency (no post 'twas a newsgroup)

2 New Member
hi. the "thread" i liked (which broght me here from google) wasn't a thread at all? but located here: http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread493095.html

my app could go any direction at its current infantile stages, so it's wide open for suggestion

i want to let someone enter currency value from $0.01 (exaggeration) to $9999.99. i'm just trying to make it easier on myself for the db backend... do i want to let this guy enter text field? well... i should make it a little more "fun" than that-- but drop-downs dont really make sense for this sort of thing.

a li'l key-pad type ting would be ultra-rad!!

well i suppose a text field is the most logical dealio-- here i am trying to "make it easy on myself" and i'm talkin' keypads. any input will be appreciated. thanks

(ha! why do developers work so hard at making things difficult-- under the guise of making things easy? blah!)

I'd use a text box imagine the amount of options if your drop down list went from $.01 to $9999.99. By keypad thing do you mean like some buttons? That wouldn't be a bad idea, but at that point you would be doing it for user convienence.

How about two text boxes, one for the integers and the rest for the decimals, then they can only enter numbers so it is much easier to test:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1.   ------ ----
  2.  $|    |.|  |
  3.   ------ ----

Hi, Thanks to Peter, Chris and Steven who answered my previous answer about regex to split a string. Actually, it was as easy as create a regex with the pattern "/*-+()," and most of my string was splitted. I am fascinated to the powerfull use of this RegEx class, so I wonder if it could go a step further. As a question, can regex be used to valid a set of different functions ? Example : Suppose I have to verify the correctness of an...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
