Disable Mouse Events

SJ
Dear Friends,

I want to temporaraly disable events from my page. However, I cant seem
to get it to work. It will show my disables message, but then it goes
ahead and does the action I was trying to do (like clicking on a link).

Here is the code, any ideas?
-----
function disableEvents()
{
document.onclic k = showDisabledMes sage;
}
function enableEvents()
{
document.onclic k = null;
}
function showDisabledMes sage()
{
alert("Please wait for the current action to complete.");
return false;
}

Learn about javascript events, in paticular event order and bubbling.

Your code only adds/removes a handler for the document object's click
event, it doesn't affect the triggering of any other DOM object's
event, or other events for the document object.

Hi all, I'm working on an educational applet for a child with special needs. He's got a bit of a trick to make my life more difficult... To interact with the applet he needs to click on buttons, which is fine most of the time (he comes from a Mac environment, so I accept mouse clicks from the right or left button when he's working on the PC). But every once in a while, he'll press and hold the right mouse button, move onto a JButton,...

I have a set of links which I want search engines to crawl them, but I want to disable them from my visitors, so I will ask the link owners to pay me to let me enable them. <a disabled href="#">bahbahbah</a> Does not work, as it is still clickable. It only changes the color to grey.

Hi all, I've got a UserControl that contains a few PictureBox objects. If I click on outside of the Picture in the UserControl, the scrolling with the mouse button works - however, no amount of clicking on the PictureBox objects will get that scrolling working. However, after I click on outside of the PictureBox object, then click as many times as I like on the PictureBox the scrolling with the mouse wheel continues to work. I found...

Hi! I'm trying to implement custom button. But I don't want to extend Button class. I want to extend Control class. I want to implement Enable disable functionality. But unfortunatly when control is in Enable = false state the on click event is not called but that event is passed to parent object. How to convince my custom button class not to pass Click events to parent classes when my class is in Disabled state?

Is there any method to temporarily disable focus changing?(I assume only method is tab or mouse?) This problem has been tieing me up for a while and nothing seems to work. The only thing that I *know* will work is to disable all tab stops on all controls. This brute force method doesn't seem like a good idea though. What I wanted to do was take control the control enter/leave and mouse enter/leave and "switch back" the focus when it is...

In my application, there are lot of processes which take several seconds. What we want is that once user clicks on a button (or link or whatever) and while we are processing that request, we don't want user to do anything else on the page. We want to disable everything. I have following javascript on all of my pages (which is supposed to work), but it doesn't work. <script language="JavaScript"> function ignoreinput() { return false;

----------------------------------------------------------------------- FAQ Topic - How do I disable the right mouse button? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The oncontextmenu intrinsic event is the only safe and reliable method. Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
