Force printing backgrounds

I'm not sure if this is a javascript or a CSS issue... I'm looking for
a way to force the printing of a background image when a page is
printed.

I'm dealing with a couple of large corporate policy manuals. Some of
the material is archived. The archived pages have watermarks to
visually identify them as outdated material. However, if the user has
printing of background images turned off, how can I override this?
This is also a problem with our navigation bar that depends on a dark
background image.

Is this possible? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

So, your question is really "How do I over-ride user preferences?" And
the answer is simple - you don't.

Not in any type of security environment at all.

You could try using CSS to absolutely position the image as a true image
instead of the background.

I read the faq, and it mentions that IE 4 on windows requires setting a printing option to allow background colors to be printed. Things change, life goes on, other browsers come into existence.... So, is there a way in CSS to say "Yeah, print these background colors", without the user having to turn on an option that will then apply to all pages printed? Thanks,

My Windows forms app generates HTML via a server-side XSL transformation of XML out of a SQL server stored procedure. I'm emedding the HTMLEditor control from http://www.itwriting.com/htmleditor/index.php, and using a custom print template. The app by the way is for a homogenous intranet environment, printing to a variety of different printers. Generally this works tolerably, although it is pretty hard work

What is the best way to force a page break when printing from a browser? A page in my application generates a series of tables which are usually less than will fit on a page of A4. Ideally I want to introduce a page break between each table when printing. I'm not sure what options I have available. I know there is some support in CSS but I'm no sure on the details or effectiveness. Thanks in advance...

Hi, We have the following in our stylesheet, which acts as a page header: #homepageheader { left: 0px; top: 0px; right: 0px; height: 183px; background-image: url(graphics/header-salmoninbucket.jpg); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-color: #B6C7B6; } When you print, however, this doesn't appear.

Hi, I hope somebody can help me here, I already tried to figure it out a long time but I am not a stylesheet pro. I want to print the blog at http://travelingcalifornia.blogspot.com/ as a chrismas present for friends. Unfortunately if I click on print only the first page is printed right (with print backgrounds true), for the others the background is not repeating (look at the print preview). It's the same for IE and Firefox.

A customer is reporting that all reports are printing with a greeny background. When previewed they have what looks like a light-grey background. I can see this as they are not local. They say other things like Word documents print fine, only the Access reports are doing this. They print fine on my system. They all are formatted for white backgrounds. This is a 2000 database. They are using 2003. I have used the db in 2003 and

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
